The relationship between Bruno Salomone and Jean Dujardin was a long and beautiful journey of artistic love that began on stage with the Nous C Nous troupe and continued on the big screen with Brice de Nice. But how did these two men first meet? A few years ago, Bruno Salomone, who tragically passed away last Sunday at the age of 55, reminisced with a smile about the day their paths first crossed.

“He was playing a completely wild character”

“The very first time I saw him, he was on stage,” Salomone revealed on the show Vivement Dimanche. “He was performing a sketch about a character from the Landes, a sketch that was utterly mad. He came out of nowhere… He was doing something, a character completely insane, which he absolutely nailed, by the way. And I thought, ‘Who is this guy?’ I actually thought he was a genuine Landais!”

“And then later, I met another guy, we started talking, I saw his mannerisms… I thought, ‘Hmm, this is intriguing. He’s different somehow,'” continued Salomone, who himself started in a hilarious commercial for the PlayStation. “And there you have it! Initially, there was an artistic spark.”

“What struck me about Jean was his ability to transform his face”

“What struck me about Jean right away was his ability to transform his face,” Salomone concluded. “And then his kindness. He radiated something very generous, yet he was somewhat shy at the same time. It was a mix: he exuded both strength and shyness. I really saw myself in him. Over time, a bond formed and there you have it, we became true friends.”
