Coming Soon to Netflix: Top 5 Must-Watch Movies and Series Including Franck Gastambide’s Latest!

Introducing a new feature on AlloCiné! Every other week, we’ll suggest five must-watch titles hitting Netflix in the upcoming days.

Werewolves (October 23)

What’s this movie about?

The Vassier family kicks off their vacation with a game of Werewolves, only to find themselves mysteriously transported to the year 1497 in the medieval village of Thiercelieux. Surrounded by fearsome werewolves, Jérôme, Marie, their three children (Clara, Louise, Théo), and grandfather Gilbert must blend in with the villagers to survive and finish the game. They discover unexpected powers that aid them in their investigation to save the community from the terrifying nocturnal creatures. However, to return home, they must learn to work together and find a new family harmony.

Why are we excited?

This isn’t the first attempt to adapt the popular board game Werewolves of Thiercelieux into a film, and past efforts have been disappointing. We have high hopes for this French version produced by Netflix, which promises to be a family-friendly comedy. Starring the popular Franck Dubosc and Jean Reno as father and son, the film is anticipated to be a hit, and we are hopeful for its quality.

Territory (October 24)

What’s this series about?

Set in the Australian Outback, miners, landowners, cowboys, and gangsters vie for control of the world’s largest cattle station.

Why are we excited?

Dubbed Netflix’s answer to Yellowstone, the platform rarely ventures into western territory, but the success of Taylor Sheridan’s productions on Paramount+ could be a strong influence. We’re mainly watching Territory for its lead (Anna Torv), the breathtaking Australian outback scenery, and the family-driven plot.

Ibelin, the Remarkable Life of a Gamer (October 25)

What’s this film about?

Following the death of a young World of Warcraft player, his online friends reveal his secret life to his family in a striking manner.

Why are we excited?

This documentary began making waves in early September and is finally arriving on Netflix. It’s not only a heartwarming story but also shows that online gaming can have positive effects, especially for youths like Mats Steen, who suffered from muscular degeneration and found a meaningful life through the community he built on World of Warcraft.

Don’t Move (October 25)

What’s this film about?

A seasoned killer injects a paralyzing agent into a grieving woman. She must run, fight, and hide before her body completely shuts down.

Why are we excited?

“A woman, a killer, a forest, and a paralyzing agent: the premise of this Netflix film is promising.” That was our initial impression upon hearing about Don’t Move, and our opinion hasn’t changed. Produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead), this horror thriller with a runtime of only 85 minutes is sure to be a topic of conversation this Halloween.

The Cage (November 8)

What’s this series about?

A young fighter dreaming of going pro struggles to get noticed until an unexpected fight thrusts him into the spotlight against a formidable opponent.

Why are we excited?

It will take a bit longer to see The Cage on Netflix compared to the other titles showcased in this article, but it’s shaping up to be the biggest release of November in France. This series on MMA, a subject not often explored, is co-created by Franck Gastambide, known for the excellent series Validé on a competing channel.
