As President-elect Donald Trump is rumored to be considering Sen. Marco Rubio for the role of Secretary of State, journalist Ken Klippenstein has unveiled a comprehensive 551-page report on the Florida senator, initially compiled by Trump’s campaign team.
This dossier, much like the one concerning Vice President-elect JD Vance that Klippenstein disclosed on KLIPNEWS in September, “was presented to major news organizations this summer,” according to the freelance reporter. He mentioned that these outlets chose not to publish it, not due to doubts about its legitimacy, but because they perceived themselves as extensions of the national security framework, heeding warnings from the U.S. government about the dossier’s origins in Iran and advising against its release to the American public.
On X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter and now under the ownership of Trump supporter and billionaire Elon Musk, Klippenstein playfully remarked, “Let’s see if I get banned again!” His account had been previously “permanently” banned following the release of the Vance dossier. However, after The New York Times reported that the Trump campaign had collaborated with X to block that document, Musk reinstated Klippenstein, citing principles of “free speech,” as revealed in exchanges obtained by the journalist.
Klippenstein emphasized the dossier’s authenticity and noted that neither spokespeople for the Trump campaign nor Rubio contested its accuracy when he reached out for their comments, providing them with copies of the document.
The document meticulously details Rubio’s past comments on Trump concerning issues like Russian interference in the 2016 election, the 2020 election dynamics, Trump’s handling of nuclear weapons, the 9/11 attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin, NATO, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, free trade, China, immigration, Iran, the Iraq war, and the U.S. exit from Syria.
For instance, the dossier highlights that Rubio had described Trump as a dangerous individual unfit to manage America’s nuclear arsenal in 2016 and criticized Trump’s seemingly favorable comments about Putin in 2022 as ‘unfortunate.’
The file not only documents Rubio’s criticisms of Trump and his perceived undermining of the ‘America First’ policy but also outlines Rubio’s “questionable” policy stances, “ethics issues,” and “controversial associations,” updated last on April 1, 2024.
Among Trump’s other potential or confirmed choices for foreign policy positions are: Congressman Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) as the national security adviser, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) as the ambassador to the United Nations, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel, Steven C. Witkoff as the special envoy to the Middle East, and Brian Hook as the head of the U.S. State Department transition team.
