Just One Second on Screen in Deadpool 2, But This Star’s Cameo Is Unforgettable!

Revisiting one of the most unforgettable cameos in all of Marvel’s feature films…

Hidden details, nods, references of all sorts, and a systematic shattering of the fourth wall… When it comes to accumulating easter eggs, the three installments of the Deadpool saga truly stand out, even when compared to other Marvel comic book adaptations. The first film directed by Tim Miller in 2016 set a high standard, and the most recent release last summer shattered all records. However, let’s focus today on the second film released six years ago, particularly on a cameo that no viewer could possibly forget.

Who is the Phantom?

We’re about halfway through the movie. Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, decides to assemble a team of mutants to take on the formidable Cable, played by Josh Brolin. Among his X-Force, there’s a guy who can manipulate electric fields, one who vomits acid, a lucky lady, a regular human, and… an invisible man.

It’s impossible to tell who plays this mysterious “Phantom” precisely because he’s invisible. Yet… viewers will still get a spectacular and memorable glimpse of him when the superhero team springs into action later in the film.

1 Second of Brad Pitt!

The operation turns into a complete disaster, and within just a few minutes, the members of the X-Force are wiped out one after the other after jumping from an airplane in mid-flight. As the Phantom lands with his parachute, he seems to fare slightly better than the others, but he accidentally crashes into an electric line and gets electrocuted in a second.

It’s during this one and only second that he loses his invisibility, and thus we fleetingly see his face: that of… Brad Pitt.

Placed right in the middle of an already hilarious scene, this cameo, completely unexpected and utterly ridiculous (since it almost gratuitously involves one of the biggest stars in Hollywood), has definitely made its mark in Marvel history.
