Over 14 Million Viewers: The Tuche Family Returns in 5th Film – Watch Trailer Now!

It’s one of the most beloved French comedies, and the fifth installment is hitting theaters soon: The Tuche family returns on February 5, 2025.

This winter, the Tuche family is back in action! Following two teasers, the trailer for this fifth installment, which partly takes place in England, has just been released. Enjoy it now with a cup of tea!

The plot of “The Tuche 5,” titled “The Tuche – God Save the Tuche,” partially unfolds in England. The Tuches are once again living a peaceful life in Bouzolles. But when Jiji, Jeff and Cathy’s grandson, is selected for a soccer internship at Arsenal, it becomes the perfect opportunity for the entire family to explore England and meet the royal family.

Little do they know, the Tuche name is about to become a permanent fixture in the annals of British history.

The film is penned by Philippe Mechelen, Julien Hervé, Nessim Chikhaoui, and Jean-Paul Rouve.

Who’s in the Cast? Any Special Guests?

Jean-Paul Rouve, Isabelle Nanty, Sarah Stern, Pierre Lottin, Théo Fernandez, and Claire Nadeau are all returning. A new actor will join the cast for a surprising role: Bernard Menez (La Nuit américaine, Le Chaud Lapin, Maine Océan), who will portray none other than King Charles III.

A New Director

Jean-Paul Rouve will direct this new chapter of the franchise. This will be his fifth feature film as a director, following “Without Weapons, Nor Hatred, Nor Violence” (2008), “When I Grow Up” (2012), “The Memories” (2015), and “Lola and Her Brothers” (2018).

Speaking to RTL, Jean-Paul Rouve shared insights into this project, quite different from his previous works. “I didn’t have any films in preparation, and I love being back on set,” he said, aware that he’s at the helm of his first “big machine” as a director.

We’re looking at bigger films like Asterix, whereas usually, I work with my camera and three actors… Now, I have green screens, special effects…

He added, smiling: “I don’t know how I’ll manage it, it might be a disaster.” The actor, screenwriter, and director has indeed directed several feature films before, but never on such a large scale or with such resources.

Producer Richard Grandpierre and director Olivier Baroux will not be associated with the new film, due to artistic and financial disagreements.

The Franchise by the Numbers

Together, the four films have sold over 14 million tickets so far. The most successful episode was “The Tuche 3,” released in 2018, which drew 5.7 million viewers. The latest installment, released in December 2021 amidst the ongoing Covid crisis, was somewhat disappointing in terms of attendance, with 2.4 million tickets sold – less than half of the third film’s audience.
