God Save The Tuche: Did You Spot Alain Chabat & Dominique Farrugia’s Voices?

Since its Wednesday release, “Les Tuche 5” has been packed with jokes and surprises. Did you catch the nod to Les Nuls in the film?

The latest installment, “God Save The Tuche,” has hit theaters! For this fifth film, Jean-Paul Rouve has taken over as director (following Olivier Baroux’s four episodes) and aimed to infuse it with his unique comedic flair.

“I grew up with Les Nuls, Gotlib, and Monty Python. My geeky side loves movies filled with references and nods,” Jean-Paul Rouve shared in the film’s press kit.

A distinctive feature of the movie is its abundance of references, so many that some might slip by on the first watch. This was Rouve’s intention: to pack the film with numerous, quick references. It starts right from the beginning, with Jeff Tuche’s voice humorously commenting on the opening credits’ logos, which includes a subtle nod to Les Nuls.

Later in the movie, an entire scene is narrated by none other than Alain Chabat and Dominique Farrugia themselves. Yes, these are the former members of Les Nuls you hear. They are even credited in the ending credits for this vocal cameo scene.

A Vocal Cameo and a… News Cameo!

Among the film’s array of surprises and cameos, there’s a scene set on the news set of TF1. The anchor, Gilles Bouleau, fully engages in the fun, delivering some laugh-out-loud lines, including imagining Gérard Larcher singing “Le Sénat, c’est sympa”! The film also playfully imagines Gilles Bouleau as the author of a book titled “Metro, Bouleau, Dodo.”

The plot of “Les Tuche 5” partially unfolds in England. The Tuche family is once again leading a peaceful life in Bouzolles. But when Jiji, the grandson of Jeff and Cathy, is selected for a soccer internship at Arsenal, it presents the perfect opportunity for the family to explore England and meet the royal family, who have no idea that the Tuche name will be eternally etched in the history of perfidious Albion.
