Tonight on TF1, the first installment of the well-loved French saga airs, featuring a few small mistakes. Did you catch this one?
As the release of God Save the Tuche (the fifth installment of the popular comedy series) approaches this Wednesday, TF1 is airing the first film in the saga tonight.
Directed in 2011 by Olivier Baroux and starring Jean-Paul Rouve and Isabelle Nanty, the movie chronicles the life of a humble family from Bouzolles. They live by the golden rule of avoiding work, even if it means staying poor, but their lives take a dramatic turn when they win the “Euro Lottery”.
At 1 hour, 19 minutes, and 48 seconds…
Like many films, both French and international, the first Tuche movie includes its share of blunders, as repeatedly demonstrated by our friends Michel and Michel.
Apart from a notable continuity error involving a champagne bottle, which we mentioned a while ago, Olivier Baroux’s film also conceals another huge but slightly more hidden mistake at 1 hour, 19 minutes, and 48 seconds.
At the movie’s climax, when the con artist Daniel Bichard spots a new lottery winner to scam by opening his newspaper, take a close look at the article’s text. Of course, most viewers never bother to read it in detail, but don’t worry: our experts from the show Faux Raccord have done it for you. And let’s just say, they found quite a bit!
…and take a good look at this newspaper!
Upon close inspection, you can see that the article completely changes topics for no apparent reason. Initially, it discusses someone from Grenoble winning 78 million euros in a game called Tic Tac, as the headline suggests. But then, the focus shifts to photography and contemporary Italian art.
In summary, instead of writing a consistent article from start to finish or duplicating certain paragraphs (a common practice in movies), the prop master for the Tuche mixed two different articles hoping the audience wouldn’t notice.
Have you spotted any other errors in the film?
