Following the critical success of “Prey” released directly on Disney+ in the summer of 2022, Twentieth Century Studios is unveiling “Predator: Badlands,” a new chapter in the franchise starring Elle Fanning. Here’s a first look at the upcoming film.
It’s been nearly three years since “Prey,” the latest installment in the Predator saga, premiered on Disney+. Fueled by the success of that film, director Dan Trachtenberg (known for “10 Cloverfield Lane”) is returning to the helm for the next entry, titled “Predator: Badlands,” which marks the ninth film in the series.
Much mystery surrounded this project until the release of its very first trailer. Slated for a theatrical release, the visual ambition of the film appears to have been elevated. Unlike its predecessor, “Badlands” appears to take place on an alien planet and focuses on an entirely new storyline.
Elle Fanning plays a new female lead who teams up with the Predator. This time, the Predator shows off a new look, distinct from its previous appearances, though it retains its iconic jawline.
Introducing New Monsters
The big reveal in the trailer is the introduction of many new creatures that are set to challenge the duo. Undoubtedly, “Predator: Badlands” does not skimp on special effects as it further expands the universe of the saga.
The release of “Predator: Badlands” follows another of Dan Trachtenberg’s projects, this one an animated feature titled “Killer of Killers,” which has been available on Disney+ since June 6th.
“Predator: Badlands” is expected to hit theaters on November 5, 2025.
