Iranian director Asghar Farhadi is assembling an impressive cast for his new feature film, titled “Parallel Stories”.
With the Cannes Film Festival 2025 just a few weeks away, this is exactly the kind of cast we might expect to see gracing the red carpet next year at this highly coveted event!
Farhadi’s latest project will bring together top talents from French cinema: Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney, and Adam Bessa (noted for his role in “The Ghosts” and nominated in the Revelation category at the César Awards 2025). In addition, the film will feature a special participation by Catherine Deneuve.
The Iranian filmmaker, whose most recent movie, “A Hero”, won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2021, will be shooting this fall in Paris, and the film will be in French, titled “Parallel Stories”.
12 Years After “The Past,” Asghar Farhadi Returns to France
According to a statement from his producer and distributor Memento, “this film marks his return to France following ‘The Past’ with Tahar Rahim and Bérénice Bejo – who won Best Actress at Cannes in 2013 – which attracted a million viewers in French theaters.”
Asghar Farhadi has received two Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, for “A Separation” in 2012, and “The Salesman” in 2017. He has also won the César Award for Best Foreign Film for “A Separation”, and the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival 2016 for “The Salesman”.
The film is scheduled for release in France in the spring of 2026.
