Thousands Worldwide Join ‘Tesla Takedown’ Protests – What’s Happening?

‘Elon Musk is Using His Tesla Fortune to Undermine Our Democracy’

Thousands of people around the globe participated in “Tesla Takedown” demonstrations at over 200 locations on Saturday, expressing their dismay at Elon Musk’s damaging influence on the Trump administration.

The protests kicked off in front of Tesla showrooms in Australia and New Zealand, spreading through Europe with events in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK. In the United States, protests took place in nearly every state including regions in the northeast, south, midwest, and west coast.

According to the event organizers, who posted on the Action Network website with an interactive map of the protest locations, “Elon Musk is using his Tesla-generated wealth to destroy our democracy, and we are here at Tesla to halt Musk’s unlawful overthrow.”

The organizers also sent a clear message to those associated with Tesla: “Sell your Teslas, offload your stock, and join the picket lines.”

Ever since Musk took charge of President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), there has been a significant backlash with critics protesting at Tesla facilities and even posting videos on social media of them selling their cars.

While demonstrating at a Tesla dealership in west London, Louise Cobbett-Witten expressed to The Guardian, “It’s too overwhelming to do nothing. Coming together like this provides real comfort. Our main tactic is simply to stand by the roadside, holding signs and shouting.”
