Thrilling Sequel Promises More: First Look at Chilling New Scenes!

“Black Phone 2” continues the narrative established by Scott Derrickson in the 2022 release, evolving the character of the Grabber into a supernatural killer. Check out the trailer.

2022 brought us a surprising hit. Directed by Scott Derrickson, known for “Sinister” and “Doctor Strange,” “Black Phone” quickly became one of the most chilling horror films in recent years. Ethan Hawke delivered a haunting performance as the masked serial killer dubbed the Grabber.

Given the critical and commercial success of the first installment, which grossed nearly $160 million worldwide against a budget of $16 million, a sequel seemed probable, though not certain. At the end of the first movie – spoiler alert – the victims succeed in killing the serial killer.

However, Hollywood, and Blumhouse in particular, found a way to continue the story. “Black Phone 2” sees the return of Ethan Hawke portraying the criminal who now haunts the characters in their dreams.

Inspired by Freddy Krueger

If this premise sounds familiar, it’s because “Black Phone 2” appears to draw heavy inspiration from Wes Craven’s classic “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” the first movie featuring Freddy Krueger.

The first poster and trailer for Scott Derrickson’s new film have been released, and surprisingly, they are quite compelling. The story is set in a mountain camp during the winter, creating a bone-chilling atmosphere.

The plot of “Black Phone 2” unfolds as follows: “Since his abduction, 17-year-old Finney struggles to resume a normal life, while nothing can stop his 15-year-old sister Gwen. However, a sinister phone begins to ring in the young girl’s dreams, showing her three boys being chased at a mountain camp named Alpine Lake.

Determined to end these nightmares and unravel their mystery, Gwen convinces her brother to visit the site, despite the blizzard hitting the station. It’s there that she uncovers the horrifying truth about the connection between the Grabber and her own family. The two teenagers must then face a killer whom death has made nearly invincible and to whom their fates are much more intertwined than they could have imagined.

“Black Phone 2,” in theaters October 15.
