Tim Burton Spills on His Most Chaotic Film Ever: ‘No Movie Will Be Made Like This Again!’

Tim Burton, the creative force behind the hit series “Wednesday,” which he also directed several episodes of, recently spoke about his most “chaotic” filming experience. Hint: it involves a movie with Johnny Depp!

Tim Burton is currently making headlines with the series “Wednesday,” available on Netflix since August 6. As the producer and director of several episodes of this gothic show, the American recently appeared on Konbini’s Video Club, where the brilliant artist discussed his cinematic preferences and revisited some of his own films, particularly one he describes as “chaotic and disorganized.”

After discussing the films that shaped his love for cinema and several of his own projects, Tim Burton, who is working on a new animated movie, was asked about his two live-action adaptations of Disney classics: “Alice in Wonderland” and “Dumbo,” released in 2010 and 2019, respectively. His comments on the former are particularly noteworthy!

“It’s funny because when I made Alice in Wonderland, it was all new, with Disney doing all this stuff…”, Burton said animatedly. “It was the most chaotic film I’ve ever made because I didn’t use just one technique, I didn’t do just motion capture… I mixed all kinds of effects.”

“Hollywood Couldn’t Test the Film”

“You know, in modern Hollywood, you typically test a film before releasing it. Here, they couldn’t test it because there was nothing complete until the very end”, the director continued. “It was like a strange puzzle because one person’s eyes were bigger, another was entirely animated, it was half motion capture, half…”

“A few months before its release, those who saw the film saw virtually nothing. It all came together at the very end. It was the most chaotic, disorganized film… I can guarantee no film will ever be made like this again!”, Burton concluded.
