If you’re in the mood for a great family movie night, don’t hesitate to check out this Disney classic available on the big-eared platform!
While waiting for Zootopia 2, hitting theaters on November 26, catching up with the first installment on Disney+ is a must! Released on February 17, 2016, this animated film was a blockbuster, grossing $1 billion worldwide on a budget of $150 million. In France alone, it attracted 4.8 million viewers.
An Engaging and Hilarious Story
To jog your memory, the story takes us to Zootopia, a city like no other: inhabited only by animals! It boasts elegant residential neighborhoods like the upscale Sahara Square, and less welcoming areas like the frosty Tundratown. In this amazing metropolis, every animal species coexists with the others. Whether you’re a massive elephant or a tiny mouse, everyone has their place in Zootopia!
When Judy Hopps joins the police force, she finds out how tough it can be to stand out among the tough guys in uniform, especially as a cute bunny. Determined to prove herself, Judy tackles a tricky case, even if it means teaming up with Nick Wilde, a slick-talking fox and a master con artist…
A Buddy Movie for the Whole Family
Wild and whimsical, Zootopia works as a buddy movie, a genre where the plot revolves around the forced collaboration between two very different characters, like in classic films such as Lethal Weapon or Die Hard with a Vengeance: “Judy and Nick, a rabbit and a fox, are natural enemies by definition. Each holds preconceived notions about the other, but will discover that these prejudices are unfounded,” notes producer Rich Moore.
What They’ll Love…
– Nick Wilde, with his sharp tongue and con artist skills, is hilariously irresistible.
– Judy, the fearless rabbit, will greatly amuse children, especially with her bickering with Nick.
– The scene with the sloth, absolutely hilarious, will delight the whole family! One of Disney’s funniest scenes ever.
– The voice acting is superb with Alexis Victor voicing Nick and Marie-Eugénie Maréchal lending her voice to Judy.
What Might Worry Them…
– Some scenes in dim light with menacing animals might be a bit scary, but nothing too serious.
