Summer ’36 Drama: Julie de Bona Hates Filming Tough Scenes with Sofia Essaïdi!

In “L’Eté 36,” Julie de Bona plays a jealous and intense character who harbors deep hatred toward her sister, portrayed by Sofia Essaïdi. These were challenging scenes for the actress to perform!

“L’été 36” premieres tonight on TF1! Debuting on May 18 on the leading channel, this new historical drama has plenty to attract viewers. With a mix of murders, family secrets, and deceptions, it promises to be an entertaining show.

In this large-scale historical series, Julie de Bona portrays the character of Blanche. Opposite this jealous and intense woman, the actress had to dig deep within herself to bring out all of Blanche’s negative emotions, especially towards Eugénie, her sister in the drama.

“Experiencing Such Feelings for So Long Was Draining”

“During filming, I genuinely felt hatred towards my fictional sister, played by Sofia Essaïdi. But a sequence that lasts 10 minutes on the show actually takes about 3 or 4 hours on set. Experiencing such feelings for so long was draining,” she revealed in an interview with TF1.

“It was even harder because I adore Sofia! I would call her in the evening and apologize for having such feelings against her, but I loved her. She found it quite amusing to hear me say that…”, Julie de Bona shared before adding:

“It was in complete contrast to what we experienced on set where there was a real sisterhood and a lot of kindness. On Les Combattantes, we had few scenes with Sofia. We were thrilled to be working together again,” the actress concluded.

“On the Contrary, It Was Exhilarating”

For her part, Sofia Essaïdi responded to how these potentially difficult scenes were to film during an interview with Télé Star: “On the contrary, it was exhilarating! We love each other very much in real life.”
