This Monday evening, Canal+ will air the final episode of “Paris Police 1910.” The screenwriter shared insights on the possibility of an additional season for the historical series.
On this Monday, May 25, Canal+ is set to broadcast the last episode of Paris Police 1910, its flagship crime series that takes us back to the Belle Epoque era of Paris. For this new season, Fabien Nury, the scriptwriter, delved into the Steinheil Affair, which captivated audiences and the press back in 1908.
That year, Marguerite Steinheil (played by Évelyne Brochu) was discovered tied up in her bed, while her husband and mother were found murdered in the next room. The case, which involved the notorious “Pompe Funèbre,” garnered extensive media attention.
The investigation, led by Inspector Jouin (Jérémie Laheurte), progressed swiftly, and Marguerite quickly became the prime suspect; Fiersi (Thibaut Évrard) and Prefect Lépine were allegedly involved. Cornered, Meg called a press conference: she was ready to tell “the whole truth”… But what is the truth?
Is Season 4 on the Horizon?
Unfortunately, there will not be a fourth season for the Paris Police saga. Fabien Nury explained during a press briefing for the series’ promotion that he always envisioned telling the story of his characters across three seasons.
“I always had the idea of creating a trilogy. It was something I knew from the first season,” he revealed. “The advantage of doing a historical series is that history helps shape our structure.”
“We knew we would start with Meg and end with her. We were clear from the start that the first season would deal with the aftermath of Felix Faure’s death and therefore she would be involved.”
“We also knew that the third season would coincide with the Steinheil Affair. Ultimately, isn’t Paris Police the story of a woman whom the police could never catch? That was our question. Meg was our subversive element.”
Don’t miss the final episode of Paris Police 1910 this Monday, May 25 at 9:10 PM on Canal+. Episodes are available on the MyCanal platform.
