BRI Creator Calls Season 2 “Catastrophic”: Reveals What He Avoided at All Costs!

The second season of B.R.I. premieres this Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9 PM on Canal+. Jérémie Guez, the co-creator of the series, revealed at a press conference the pitfall he aims to avoid in his projects compared to other dramas…

The heroes are back to take down the bad guys! On Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9 PM, Canal+ will begin airing the highly anticipated second season of B.R.I. for its subscribers. This new batch of high-stakes episodes brings back many of last year’s beloved characters, along with a few new faces joining the hard-hitting team.

Key New Additions

At a recent press conference, Jérémie Guez, the co-creator of the drama, discussed the new characters making their debut tonight on Canal+ in the B.R.I. universe. He emphasized his strategy of blending well-known actors with fresh talent. In the first season, Vincent Elbaz starred, and this year, Vincent Perez joins the cast, alongside several lesser-known actors.

The showrunner of the Original Series elaborated on his approach: “The core idea is to have guest stars who are well-recognized and recurring actors who are not familiar to the general public. This is one of the series’ strengths—I’ve always worked this way. There’s a fantastic young generation of actors in France. However, we still suffer from having the same ten people play every type of role, all the time, which I think is disastrous.”

“That’s What Makes It Work…”

“In this season 2, for example, I used Vincent Perez, as I used Vincent Elbaz in season 1,” continues Jérémie Guez. “The goal is to present genre stalwarts with more ‘clichéd’ writing because otherwise, there’s no entry point for fans of ‘classic’ thrillers.”

“Mixing recognized and unrecognized actors allows for more caricature, as well as disruption. That’s what makes it work and why some find the casting quite divisive. Some people love certain characters, and others hate them. It allows me to not leave anyone out and to mix traditional noir with a kind of neo-noir or new French cinema. Both elements are in BRI. That’s what makes it successful, I think.”

Thus, B.R.I. series addicts will see in the credits for this season 2 Sofian Khammes, Ophélie Bau, Théo Christine, Rabah Naït Oufella, Waël Sersoub, Léa Catania, Nina Meurisse, Hugo Dillon, Lucie Debay, Vincent Perez, and Emmanuelle Devos.

This time, the plot unfolds following a shootout between drug traffickers and police. Saïd’s team of elite young cops finds themselves at the heart of a vast investigation that turns out to be much more complicated than anticipated. As the group uses every means at their disposal to take down one of Europe’s biggest traffickers, a ruthless gang of robbers stands in their way…

B.R.I. season 2 debuts on Canal+ starting Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9 PM. Two episodes will air that day, followed by one episode per evening in subsequent weeks. These eight brand-new episodes are also available on the Canal+ app for subscribers of the channel.
