While the first Dune film scored a respectable average of 4.2 out of 5 from Allociné viewers, the sequel did even better, receiving an outstanding rating of 4.4 out of 5 from over 20,970 reviews and 1,859 critiques! In this film, considered the best science fiction of the year 2024 and the best of Timothée Chalamet’s career, he reprises his role as Paul Atreides and joins forces with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to lead the revolt against those who destroyed his family.

The cast includes a stellar lineup: Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Javier Bardem, and Anya Taylor-Joy. This five-star cast led to a sequel that triumphed at the box office. In France, Dune: Part 2 drew more than 4 million viewers, while its global earnings reached nearly $715 million, against a budget estimated at $190 million.

Denis Villeneuve is no stranger to science fiction. Over the years, the filmmaker has become a major name in modern SF, particularly thanks to masterpieces like Arrival (2016) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). These films, like the Dune saga, reinvent the genre with wide shots and scale contrasts (characters are often lost amidst vast settings, such as the desert).
