Is Mickey Mouse’s head hidden among the soap bubbles in “Cinderella”? Many viewers believe this is one of Disney’s earliest easter eggs!
Two small circles atop a larger round shape… that’s all it takes for many Disney studio fans to instantly recognize the iconic silhouette of Mickey, the emblem of the big-eared company for over a century.
Hidden Mickeys
Thus, for decades, easter egg hunters have taken to scouring every production from the magical kingdom (including its park attractions) to spot a little Mickey head.
While the famous mascot definitely makes an undeniable appearance in some of the studio’s more recent films (such as “Frozen,” “Zootopia,” or even “The Little Mermaid”), other “finds” from older movies are somewhat more debatable.
In “Cinderella” (released in 1950), for instance, there’s room for debate. At a time when the concept of easter eggs was not yet officially recognized, did Disney animators consciously place a “hidden Mickey” in their film?
Mickey or Not?
To make up your own mind, simply hit the “pause” button on your remote at 27 minutes and 23 seconds into the film, in the scene where Cinderella is cleaning the floor while singing and soap bubbles are flying into various shapes. At one specific moment in the sequence, you can indeed spot three bubbles coming together in a way that strikingly resembles the profile of our beloved mouse.
Do you think this is a genuine reference? Or just a mere coincidence?
To catch a glimpse of Mickey more definitively, keep your eyes peeled at the beginning of “The Little Mermaid”, and closely watch the subjects of King Triton in the opening scene.
