Clint Eastwood’s Major Rule Broken by Yellowstone Star on ‘American Sniper’ Set!

Luke Grimes’ role in Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” paved the way for his casting as Kayce Dutton in the series “Yellowstone” and its spin-off “Marshals”.

Clint Eastwood’s shadow looms large over “Yellowstone”. Although the legendary American actor and director has never appeared in any of the five seasons of the show or its prequel, his movie “Unforgiven” is often mentioned as the favorite Western of the series co-creator, Taylor Sheridan.

Clint Eastwood’s Impact on Yellowstone’s Casting

Clint Eastwood’s work influenced “Yellowstone” in another significant way, as it was his role in “American Sniper” that helped Luke Grimes secure the role of Kayce Dutton. In an exclusive interview, the star of the spin-off “Marshals” confirmed this, explaining that Taylor Sheridan went to see the movie in theaters while he was writing the first season of the show.

“I was told he saw ‘American Sniper’ at the cinema, and that’s when he thought I could play Kayce. It makes sense, because in the movie I play a military man, and in the series, Kayce is a former Marine,” Luke Grimes told us.
