First Look: Yellowstone Spinoff with Cole Hauser Promises a Powerful Comeback!

While it didn’t win over every fan, it’s undoubtedly a ratings hit. “Marshals” serves both as a direct continuation of “Yellowstone” and a spin-off styled as an action procedural akin to shows like NCIS or SEAL Team. The show’s protagonist is none other than Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), who has become a member of a U.S. Marshals team.

How did Season 1 end?

The first season revealed why Monica Dutton is absent from the show, and it concluded with the kidnapping of Tate (Brecken Merrill), Kayce’s son. Early visuals from Season 2 already show us that Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) and Belle (Arielle Kebbel) survived the gunfire aimed at them in the season finale (their fates had been left uncertain).

The Marshals team will head to Texas to track down Tate, who was abducted by an investor eager to acquire Kayce’s lands. Fans of “Yellowstone” might recall that Texas is now also home to Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser), the protagonists of the spin-off “Dutton Ranch,” whose first season also ended with the kidnapping of their son, Carter (Finn Little). Coincidence?

Possible Crossover with Dutton Ranch?

The stars of both shows have publicly expressed their desire to film a crossover episode that would for the first time bring together the heroes of “Yellowstone” since the series ended. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, and the trailer for Season 2 of “Marshals” doesn’t hint at any such episode being imminent.

Despite breaking viewership records on the American channel CBS, “Marshals” has not convinced all “Yellowstone” fans. Many have criticized the series for its shift in tone, as well as for less compelling writing and characters compared to the original series.

Will Season 2 manage to improve? The answer will come on October 4th, exclusively on Paramount+.
