Michael Madsen’s Epic 45-Minute Prank on ‘Reservoir Dogs’ Co-Star 34 Years Ago!

During the 1992 filming of Reservoir Dogs, Kirk Baltz played Marvin Nash, a police officer captured by Mr. Blonde. When he first appears in the movie, the hostage is locked in the trunk of a car before being presented to Mr. White and Mr. Pink.

Eager to experience what his character endured, Kirk Baltz asked his co-star Michael Madsen to help. This was a risky idea given Madsen’s unique temperament and sense of humor, known for portraying Mr. Blonde.

Invited to the Late Show with David Letterman in 1994, Michael Madsen recounted, “He came up to me and asked me to take him for a ride in the trunk of my car.”

“He wanted to get into the skin of his character, you know,” he added.

An Unexpected Detour to Taco Bell

Kirk Baltz likely expected to stay locked up just for a few minutes, enough for a short drive around the block. However, Michael Madsen had envisioned a much longer experience.

“I thought it might be fun. I didn’t think I’d have anything to gain from it until I actually put him in the trunk. He wanted me to just drive around the block, but I drove for 45 minutes; I took him on a ride and went to Taco Bell,” he revealed to a laughing audience.

Upon opening the trunk, the joke clearly lost its appeal to Baltz, who had just spent three-quarters of an hour inside.

“He didn’t appreciate it at all. Especially when I opened the trunk after the ride. He was dripping with sweat, really in a bad state,” concluded Madsen.
