Just a few days ago, Netflix released season 3 of Ginny & Georgia, ending on a quite unexpected cliffhanger! Fortunately, a follow-up season is already in the works.
Ginny & Georgia is a show we hold dear to our hearts. With its two vibrant and endearing heroines, it takes us through a rollercoaster of emotions. Season 3, which just dropped on Netflix, is no exception.
In this latest season, the family matriarch played by Brianne Howey ends up in jail and at the center of a trial that keeps the town of Wellsbury on edge: Did Georgia kill Cynthia’s husband? Is she a black widow or just an innocent woman? As the truth unveils, she faces the repercussions of her actions. Paul (Scott Porter) ultimately files for divorce, and instead of falling into Joe’s arms, she makes the mature decision to focus on her children.
However, the cliffhanger in the final episode reshuffles the deck: Georgia is pregnant. But the father’s identity is a mystery since, while confined to house arrest with an ankle monitor, she had relations with both Paul and Joe (Raymond Ablack). When she tells her daughter, who was also pregnant, that “fertility runs in the family,” it’s easy to take her word for it!
Season 4 Greenlit by Netflix!
In 2023, Netflix renewed Ginny & Georgia for two more seasons: Season 4 has been in the writing stage since February, and if all goes well, we won’t have to wait another two years to see our favorite heroines again. And to find out who the father of the baby is, if the showrunner decides to reveal that secret right away.
Season 4 of Ginny & Georgia might well be the final chapter. As the former showrunner disclosed two years ago, the plan has always been to tell this young mother’s tale in four parts. While we don’t yet know the specifics of the upcoming season, we can hope for a happy ending for Georgia, or at least a conclusive one (and preferably not in jail).
But before that, she must tackle several issues: this unexpected pregnancy and the return of her father, who is currently incarcerated (but for how long?). We know Georgia grew up in a violent home and that her father tried to kill her. Now that he knows where she lives, Ginny’s mother (Antonia Gentry) is no longer safe—and that bodes ill for what’s to come…
