The actor behind Homelander in “The Boys” discussed the likelihood of appearing in an upcoming Marvel production.
Since the Avengers’ clash in Civil War and the epic showdown between DC’s greatest superheroes in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, audiences can’t get enough of superhero battles. Consequently, many are eager to see new crossovers featuring different characters, especially Homelander (known as “le Protecteur” in French) from the series The Boys.
Homelander, the leader of the superhero team The Seven, quickly revealed his psychotic nature and dark origins to viewers. His abilities are extensive, including immense strength, the power of flight, and the capability to shoot lasers from his eyes.
Given his near-invincibility, Homelander would be an ideal candidate to take on another superhero. However, don’t expect any confrontations with Marvel characters due to rights issues—The Boys is owned by Dynamite Entertainment and its TV adaptation airs on Prime Video, while Marvel is under Disney’s umbrella.
Which DC Comics Superhero Has Homelander Faced Off Against?
When asked about a possible MCU appearance, Antony Starr, who portrays Homelander, admitted he feels “a little too old” to join the Marvel connected universe. This candid response effectively quashes any hopes fans might have of seeing him in the superhero franchise.
Nevertheless, several stars from The Boys have appeared in Marvel productions. For instance, Karl Urban (Billy Butcher) was featured in Thor: Ragnarok, Giancarlo Esposito (Stanford Edgar) appeared in Captain America: Brave New World, and Erin Moriarty (Starlight) was seen in the Jessica Jones series.
A crossover between Homelander and a DC Comics superhero has actually occurred! In the video game Mortal Kombat 1, downloadable content allows players to control The Boys’ antagonist, as well as Peacemaker played by John Cena, known from the film The Suicide Squad and its spin-off series!
The first four seasons of The Boys are now exclusively available on Prime Video.
