Jean Dujardin is on a roll with new projects! He’s set to appear on October 29th in Jan Kounen’s “The Shrinking Man,” a new adaptation of Richard Matheson’s sci-fi novel, and is currently shooting Xavier Giannoli’s latest movie, “Rays and Shadows.” On top of this busy schedule, the actor, who won an Oscar for his role in “The Artist” in 2012, has already lined up another lead role in Cyril Gelblat’s next dramedy, “Roller Coaster,” produced by Thomas and Mathieu Verhaeghe (Atelier de Production).

The film, which explores the theme of bipolar disorder, is scheduled to begin production in early 2025, with filming planned between February and March, as noted by the producers to ‘Ecran Total.’

Based on an Autobiographical Novel

Co-produced by Kobayashi Prod and Bright Lights Films, the movie is adapted from Jean Albou’s book “A Madman in the Art – Confessions of a Serial Collector.” The screenplay is co-written by Sarah Kaminsky, Laetitia Colombani, and Kamir Aïnouz.

With a budget of 10 million euros, according to the Cannes edition of Le Film Français, this autobiographical story published in 2011 by La Martinière recounts the meteoric rise and sudden fall of Jean Albou, a former wealth manager turned contemporary art collector.

Diagnosed with bipolar disorder only retrospectively, the author describes his manic episodes, which led to extravagant spending, totaling up to fifteen million euros in less than two months. He also offers a sharp critique of the contemporary art world, portraying it as a realm dominated by speculation and pretense, often overshadowing the real artistic value.
