Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Serious Injury on ‘The Walking Dead’ Set: From Minor to Major!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, known for his role as Negan, shares the challenges faced during the filming of “The Walking Dead.”

Recently, we discussed how Norman Reedus, the actor behind Daryl, experienced a concussion on the set of The Walking Dead, leading him to take a few weeks off from filming. He wasn’t the only cast member whose health was compromised during the production.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who joined the series in its sixth season as the infamous villain Negan, has his own tales of hardship. In 2022, during a discussion on X with fans, he revealed that he had broken his foot some time before: “Broke it ages ago. Just didn’t want to go to the hospital and risk covid. Finally went… yup. It’s broke. Nothing I can really do until I’m home. All good. Been working entire time. I only cry like… 3 times a day. Maybe 4.”

For several months, the actor kept fans updated via social media about his health progress and the delay of his surgery to finish filming The Walking Dead. On the red carpet at the series finale, he told Business Insider that he had actually broken both of his feet without initially realizing how severe the injuries were.

“I honestly think it was just bad shoes, and I was jumping and landing multiple times. At first, it was nothing, just a small fracture. And then it got worse. The bones in my heel are no longer smooth,” he explained.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was supposed to have surgery between the end of The Walking Dead and the beginning of the spin-off Dead City, in which he stars alongside Lauren Cohan. However, during the three-month break, he suffered a hernia that required surgery instead of attending to his feet: “I thought ‘damn, my feet are just going to have to hold up’”. Fortunately, he assures that all is now well.
