Seven years ago, this iconic actress could have landed a major role in a Tarantino film! Why did this collaboration never happen? The actress believes she knows the reason.
In 2019, Margot Robbie dazzled audiences under Quentin Tarantino’s direction in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” portraying the late actress Sharon Tate. Before Tarantino’s final decision was known, there were whispers that Jennifer Lawrence might be cast for the role.
A Missed Opportunity
Rumors at the time strongly suggested that the star of the Hunger Games series was considered for the role of Sharon Tate. During an interview on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Jennifer Lawrence responded candidly!
According to Lawrence, Tarantino initially offered her the role of Daisy in “The Hateful Eight,” but she politely declined: “I shouldn’t have,” admits Jennifer, before moving on to “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.”
“He wanted to work with me, but everyone said I wasn’t pretty enough to play Sharon Tate,” the actress lamented, suggesting that these critiques dissuaded Tarantino from hiring her. “I’m almost certain that’s true. Or maybe I’ve just told myself that story for so long that I believe it,” she continued.
He wanted to work with me but everyone said I wasn’t pretty enough to play Sharon Tate.
“No, but I’m almost sure that happened. Or perhaps he simply never considered giving me the role, and the Internet took it upon itself to call me ugly,” Jennifer Lawrence joked. “I know the Internet, and it would never do that!” responded host Josh Horowitz humorously.
JLaw vs Internet Trolls
“Really, those poor dears?” Jennifer Lawrence retorted sarcastically, implicitly referring to the trolls on social networks.
Regardless, it’s not too late for a collaboration between Tarantino and Jennifer Lawrence. However, fans will need to be ready, as the director has always claimed that his 10th film will be his last! This might finally be the chance for Katniss’s performer to work with one of the world’s most revered filmmakers.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old artist will soon star in “Die My Love,” directed by Lynne Ramsay. Alongside Robert Pattinson, she will find herself on a farm in the Montana countryside, playing a woman struggling with mental health issues following the breakdown of her marriage.
