Kevin Costner Officially Done with Yellowstone – Find Out Why!

What are the new ventures for Kevin Costner? Following the conclusion of “Yellowstone,” he’s now set to turn the page on the western series for good.

It’s been just over a year since Kevin Costner took to social media to announce that he would not return for the second part of Yellowstone, prompting the western series to conclude without him and his character, John Dutton.

The American actor had hoped to move on with the first two installments of his western saga Horizon, but they did not meet success. Due to the box office failure of the first film, the release of the second was delayed, and the production of the third was halted indefinitely.

What’s His Next Film About?

In an interview with RadioTimes, the 70-year-old actor and director expressed his readiness to embrace new projects: “I’m ready to do anything that will satisfy me. It might not necessarily be a western, or anything specific. But when I lose interest in something, and another reason motivates me to move forward, then I’m ready to go.”

Costner’s next role will indeed not be in a western but a dramatic comedy. In this film titled Honeymoon with Harry, the former Yellowstone star will act alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, with whom he has never previously worked.

The film, written and directed by Dan Fogelman (This is Us), follows a man (Gyllenhaal) whose fiancée dies just before their wedding. He decides to go on their honeymoon anyway and asks his father-in-law (Costner) to join him.

Kevin Costner Hasn’t Given Up on His Horizon Saga

Kevin Costner has also not abandoned his directorial projects and still hopes to complete the filming of the third installment of his Horizon saga. However, the path won’t be easy, especially as he is currently facing a lawsuit filed by a stuntwoman who claims she was forced to shoot a rape scene without her consent.

“Above all, what I hope for is to remain consistent. Not just with myself, but also with those who view my work,” he explained to our colleagues. “I can’t create something that doesn’t reflect my emotions and sensitivity to those who will see it. And hopefully, it will resonate with them on an emotional level.”

All five seasons of Yellowstone are now available in full on Paramount+.
