Maxton Hall Season 2: New Character Set to Transform James and Ruby’s Lives!

Season 2 of “Maxton Hall” has introduced a new character, Ophelia, who might just stir up some serious drama within the Beaufort family. Let’s meet her.

Prime Video released the first three episodes of Maxton Hall’s second season yesterday, taking us on a rollercoaster of emotions. Our star-crossed lovers, portrayed by Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung, are torn apart and reunited right before our eyes, struggling to keep their relationship alive amidst their individual troubles.

Indeed, James is grappling with the loss of his mother, while his father opposes his romantic relationship, urging him to focus solely on the family business. However, the Beaufort heirs find a new ally in their Aunt Ophelia to stand up to Mortimer this season. Played by German actress Dagny Dewath, she appears to be there to protect her nephew and niece. But who is she, really?

A Character Fans Will Love

In Mona Kasten’s Maxton Hall books, Ophelia is introduced in the second installment. She quickly lets Lydia and James know that she is on their side and suspects Mortimer of tampering with Cordelia’s will. Even though the family patriarch immediately forbids her from seeing any family members, the enigmatic young woman does everything she can to get closer to them. But are her intentions pure?

Be aware, the following paragraphs might spoil the rest of the Prime Video series.

We soon find out that Cordelia left the control of the business to Mortimer in her will, a decision that puzzles Ophelia, who knows her sister always put her family and her children at the heart of the Beaufort brand. Suspicious, she investigates with James and Lydia and discovers that Mortimer indeed altered the matriarch’s last wishes.

In the third book, James finds his mother’s true will in her bedroom and uses it to force his father to step down from the company. As a result, his father can no longer control him or prevent him from being with Ruby, the love of his life. It turns out that he, Lydia, and Ophelia are the rightful heirs to the multi-billion dollar business.

It remains to be seen whether the Prime Video series will stay true to the Maxton Hall novels, but it’s hard to imagine the writers changing Ophelia’s character. Our two students need an adult to protect them from the wrath of Mortimer, who is displeased with a son battling depression and a daughter who is pregnant in high school. We are eagerly anticipating the development of the relationship between these three characters on screen.

However, we’ll have to wait for Maxton Hall’s season 3, already ordered by Prime Video, to witness Mortimer’s downfall. Meanwhile, tune in every Friday on the platform to binge-watch the new episodes.
