Rated 4/5, 2024’s Top Action Movie! Did You Spot Chris Hemsworth’s Partner in Dual Roles?

Elsa Pataky in a dual role? Yes, Chris Hemsworth’s partner takes on two distinct characters in “Furiosa” and she’s not the only family member to make an appearance…

In “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” released in May 2024, Chris Hemsworth isn’t the only star; his long-time partner, Elsa Pataky, also joins the fray. The Spanish actress has entered George Miller’s post-apocalyptic realm, playing two vastly different characters, showcasing her flair for action once more.

Famous for her role as Elena in the Fast & Furious series, Elsa Pataky has added another action-packed title to her resume. This isn’t her first project with Chris Hemsworth; the pair have previously worked together in “Horse Soldiers,” “Thor: Love And Thunder” (where she appeared as a wolf-woman opposite the superhero), and “Interceptor,” an action movie produced by Netflix featuring a cameo by Hemsworth. She even secretly dubbed a kiss scene for Natalie Portman in “Thor 2”!

For those unaware, in Furiosa, Pataky brilliantly portrays two formidable yet distinct characters. She first appears as a Vuvalini warrior staying behind to defend the Green Land while Furiosa’s mother (Anya Taylor-Joy) goes in search of her daughter. Later, disguised in tattered clothing and repellent makeup, she plays one of the minions of the villainous Dementus, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, who surprises with a role that’s quite a departure from his usual characters.

A True Family Affair!

But that’s not all: Chris Hemsworth’s father, Craig Hemsworth, also makes an appearance in the film! He appears twice on-screen, sharing a unique cinematic experience with his son through a non-speaking cameo.

Fun fact: an enthusiast of mechanics, he was once part of a biker group, some of whose members had roles in the very first Mad Max film in 1979 — though he himself never appeared in the movie, as Chris Hemsworth explained in the video below.

And it seems the legacy is set to continue: according to producer Doug Mitchell, the Hemsworth-Pataky twins, aged 12, are already showing their chops as stunt performers. “The twin boys, they can jump on a motorcycle. I’m not kidding,” said the longtime collaborator of George Miller at Cannes last year. “Chris showed me footage, and he said: ‘They’ll be in the next Mad Max at 14 years old. For now, they’re 12, but they can ride.’” The next generation of Wasteland survivors might already be in training…
