Seth Rogen sends a shoutout to Daniel Day-Lewis to star in Season 2 of “The Studio” – and he’s pitching a Zoom meeting to discuss!
“The Studio” is looking to cast some exciting guest stars! The creators and actors behind the much-talked-about Apple TV+ series, a satirical take on the Hollywood film industry, are revealing their wishlist of celebrities for the show, which features notable guest appearances each episode.
Seth Rogen, who acts and co-created the series with Evan Goldberg, has his eyes set on one particular star: Daniel Day-Lewis.
“He’s the greatest living actor,” Rogen told Variety at the Apple TV+ FYC event in Hollywood on May 21. “His method is so unique that I think it would be a fascinating aspect to explore on our show.”
The comedian and showrunner admitted he hasn’t yet reached out to the Oscar-winning actor. “Daniel, please consider a Zoom call with us,” he said. “We’ll pitch you a great idea!”
In “The Studio,” Seth Rogen plays a struggling Hollywood studio head, trying to balance corporate demands with his passion for producing high-quality films.
Evan Goldberg thinks James Cameron would also make a great guest star because the “Avatar” director is “a genius who is also known for his occasional outbursts.”
That’s two high-profile suggestions, but there’s more!
Stewart, Pacino, DiCaprio, Zendaya, David…
Chase Sui Wonders, who plays aspiring development director Quinn Hackett in the show, has suggested Kristen Stewart to Rogen and Goldberg. “It’s all about identity politics, and if Kristen faced a sensitive issue, Quinn would try to relate to her… and get into hot water,” Wonders said. “We’ve seen a few examples in the first season, but watching Quinn get into trouble for pushing her identity politics too far would be both tricky and hilarious.”
Wonders also hinted at a possible Al Pacino cameo: “Imagine a plot about a ‘Scarface’ comeback for a huge sum, and Al Pacino has sold everything,” she suggested.
Leonardo DiCaprio is at the top of Ike Barinholtz’s list, who plays Sal Saperstein in the series: “It’s him. I don’t think he’s ever done TV. I think Leo is the golden goose,” he commented.
Dewayne Perkins, who portrays publicist Tyler, didn’t hesitate when asked by Variety which guest star he dreams of. “Zendaya,” he replied. “She’s everything. She embodies Hollywood in such a cool way, from child star to her current status. She’s a perfect symbol of what Hollywood can be, in the best sense.”
And then there’s Larry David. His former co-star from “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Keyla Monterroso Mejia, who plays assistant Petra, claims David would “fit perfectly” in the Apple series as he would bring “a nice balance to all this chaos.”
The Talk of the Town Series
Rated 4.1 out of 5 by viewers on AlloCiné, “The Studio” continues to impress. The series has been praised for its direction, cinematography, humor, and satirical portrayal of the film industry. It’s also noted for its extensive use of long takes, as well as the presence of celebrities in each episode.
Alongside Seth Rogen, the series stars Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, and Bryan Cranston. In addition to its already stellar main cast, the list of guest stars is impressive, including Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Zack Snyder, Charlize Theron, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Greta Lee, Zac Efron, Anthony Mackie, Paul Dano, Adam Scott, Antony Starr, and many others, as you can see in the list below.
While waiting for the already ordered Season 2, the excellent Season 1 of The Studio is available to rediscover on Apple TV+ without delay.
