Henry Cavill’s ‘The Witcher’ Replacement Makes Radical Move to Dodge Unhappy Fans

Many fans of Henry Cavill seem to forget that the British actor has endorsed his successor in The Witcher. For the last two seasons of the show, the witcher Geralt of Rivia will be portrayed by Liam Hemsworth, widely known for his role in the Hunger Games series.

Fans Still Struggling with Henry Cavill’s Exit

The switch in actors playing Geralt stems from Henry Cavill’s decision to leave the series. A devoted fan of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and their video game adaptations, the former Superman actor was unhappy with the liberties the Netflix series took with the original works.

Thus, Liam Hemsworth steps into the role of Geralt in season 4 of The Witcher on somewhat hostile ground. Despite the backlash, it will take more to rattle the Australian actor. In addition to his physical preparation for the role, he revealed that he had stayed away from social media for almost a year to avoid distractions from these comments.

Why Did Liam Hemsworth Withdraw from Social Media?

“There was quite a bit of noise and I had to put that aside. It was starting to become a distraction,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve dealt with similar issues before and I love telling stories and acting. I simply don’t want these things to impact the way I tell the story I’m trying to convey. I stayed off social media and the internet for the majority of last year.”

Fortunately, his break from social media allowed Liam Hemsworth to ignore all the negative comments posted following the release of the very first trailer for season 4. And undoubtedly, many more messages will be posted after this new season airs, which is expected on October 30 on Netflix…
