Un si grand soleil Scoop: Alix-Janet Friendship, Becker Tensions & Upcoming Laurine Clash!

Janet is set for some tumultuous weeks ahead in “Un si grand soleil.”

Spotted at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, Tonya Kinzinger, the actress behind Janet, discussed with Allociné the future of her role. From her friendship with Alix, the upcoming turbulence in her relationship, to a looming confrontation with Laurine, Janet’s life is shaping up to be anything but calm.

Allociné: This year, the writers surprised everyone by forging a strong bond between Janet and Alix. Having hoped for Janet to finally have a friend, this must have been a nice surprise for you?

Tonya Kinzinger: It was indeed a pleasant surprise! This pairing might seem unlikely, but that’s exactly what makes their friendship so intriguing. With Alix, we see sides of Janet that were previously hidden. Despite Alix’s involvement in shady dealings, her loyalty and sincerity towards Janet shine through, revealing a different facet of her. They truly complement each other.

How has it been working with Nadia Fossier?

Fantastic! It’s funny because as soon as we found out we’d be working together, we immediately called each other. We were thrilled because we hadn’t really worked together before.

Commissioner Becker isn’t pleased with this friendship, dreaming only of catching Alix. Amidst his obsession, Janet humorously wonders if her husband might be in love with Alix. Do you think there’s any truth to that comment?

I don’t think so, but his obsession really wears on Janet (laughs). At some point, they’ll need to address it, yet you can’t blame him entirely because his detective instincts tell him she’s hiding something.

So, can we expect more tension between Clément and Janet?

Tensions will arise again in the relationship but always with a comedic twist. Janet will certainly be annoyed that he’s bringing up this issue again, but she’ll begin to understand why he’s so persistent.

Despite what others might think, Alix continues her small schemes. One can imagine that Janet will eventually uncover the truth. How would she react? Would their friendship remain the same?

She’ll stand by and support her friend, even if she has messed up.

While we know a bit about Janet’s past, there’s still much we don’t know about your character. Do the writers plan to explore more of her personal story?

I hope so, and I think they will. As we explore her friendship with Alix, we uncover new aspects of Janet. We don’t know her well as a woman, but rather as a ‘wife’ or in her professional role. She’s very independent and excels in her role as head of department, but we haven’t seen her laughing with a friend yet. It’s this side we’ll truly get to see through Alix.

What’s great is that the scenes between Janet and Clément at the villa are often humorous. We discover many little things through these moments. And that’s exactly what will happen in the next storyline I’m shooting: Alix will face some problems. Meanwhile, there will be very funny situations emerging in the couple. Reading the scenes, I was thrilled. We’re going to have a blast playing them.

Could Emy, Janet’s daughter, possibly make a return to Montpellier soon? Is that something you would like?

I was really sad to lose my fictional daughter. I don’t know if Salomé Granelli will ever return to the series, but I think it’s a shame not to continue exploring that story. Emy is a major weakness for Janet as she wasn’t a good mother. It was very important to show this character’s flaws.

We’ve never met Janet’s ex-husband, Emy’s father. Has there been any talk of introducing this character into the series? And if so, who would you like to see in the role?

It would need to be someone strong, as I imagine this character quite dark. Janet and he had a very troubled past. It would certainly be very interesting to introduce this character to the series. The writers have discussed it, but for now, they are keeping the idea on hold. For me, he needs to have a powerful presence, whether in his personality, profession, or financially, as Janet couldn’t fight him to win back her daughter.

What’s in store for Janet in the coming weeks?

There will be a significant clash between Janet and Laurine. It will escalate to the point where Janet could lose her job. Laurine will really try to sabotage her with Catherine’s help. I’m eager to see how this story ends.

Also, there will be a plotline involving Alix and an inheritance. It’s really quite good.

Do you have other projects outside the series you can tell us about?

I just played the first show of “Le goût du bonheur,” a romantic comedy directed by Olivier Macé. I share the stage with Thierry Beccaro and Sylvain Boccara. It was a real triumph! We were super happy because it’s always a bit scary to present a play for the first time to the public. They really liked it, which was heartwarming.
