The trailer for “Karma,” Guillaume Canet’s newest directorial project, has just been unveiled!
Presented today in the official selection but out of competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, “Karma” signals Guillaume Canet’s return to the director’s chair with a psychological thriller. The film boasts an international cast that includes Marion Cotillard, Denis Ménochet, Leonardo Sbaraglia, and Luis Zahera.
The feature starts in a village in northern Spain. Jeanne is trying to rebuild her life with Daniel, who is unaware of her troubled past. One day, Mateo, Jeanne’s six-year-old godson, vanishes mysteriously… To evade the police who quickly suspect her, Jeanne takes refuge in France in the cult-like community where she was raised, led by Marc. Daniel refuses to believe in Jeanne’s guilt and does everything he can to find her before the police do.
After “Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom” (2023), Guillaume Canet returns to the thriller genre, a style he has missed since “Tell No One,” as he shared when posting a first look at his new direction with images that promise a suspense-filled thriller.
This marks the eighth collaboration between the actor and director Guillaume Canet and his former partner Marion Cotillard. Guillaume Canet co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Jacquet, editor of “Mal de pierres,” “He,” “Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom,” and “Crazy Love.”
The music for “Karma” is composed by Yodelice, also known as Maxime Nucci, a regular collaborator of Guillaume Canet (Blood Ties, Little White Lies, Rock’n Roll).
“Karma” is set to hit theaters on October 21.
