On the big screen, the number of projects continues to grow. We’ve recently seen Pokémon Detective Pikachu in 2019, the three Sonic movies (2020, 2022, 2024), and the animated hit Super Mario Bros, released in 2023 with a sequel coming next year.

This Wednesday marks the release of a new film adaptation of the globally renowned video game: Minecraft. A Clash with a Superhero

In October 2020, Warner Bros removed Minecraft from its release schedule to avoid clashing with The Batman, which they were also producing, and due to the pandemic. The release has now been firmly set for April 2, 2025.

Reunion

This marks the second collaboration between Jack Black and director Jared Hess, 19 years after Super Nacho (2006). Additionally, Kate McKinnon and Jemaine Clement were both in the cast of Krypto and the Super-Pets in 2022.

A Jump Back in Time

The second trailer reveals a lesser-known aspect of the game, focusing on the past of Steve. By showing him as a young boy, the film suggests that Steve has been trapped in the Minecraft world for years.
