Famed for his portrayal of “Harry Potter” in all eight movies of the blockbuster series, Daniel Radcliffe has disclosed which role he would be willing to play in the upcoming TV series adaptation of the beloved novels.
Could Daniel Radcliffe make a comeback in the Harry Potter universe? Certainly, the English actor has no plans to return as the young wizard in the new series adaptation, which is set to begin filming this year.
A New Role in the Saga?
Daniel Radcliffe, who first captured the public’s attention in 2001 with the initial installment of the film saga, lent his likeness to Harry Potter across all eight films. The series’ success catapulted him to international fame, alongside his co-stars Emma Watson (who played Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley).
When asked about a potential role in the new adaptation, the 35-year-old actor initially responded with humor, suggesting he could play one of the living portraits that adorn the walls of Hogwarts School.
More seriously, he later envisioned himself portraying Sirius Black, a role that would require only a few days of filming (let’s not spoil anything for those unfamiliar with the series) and which he considers a “super cool” character.

However, fans shouldn’t hold their breath. In the same interview, Daniel Radcliffe made it clear that he will not be appearing in the series. “There’s no chance I’ll play the character, but I can see the headlines now: ‘Dan Radcliffe says it would be fun to play Sirius Black, but he won’t do it.'”
In the film saga, Sirius Black was portrayed by Gary Oldman. Oldman himself has expressed interest in playing Albus Dumbledore in the new adaptation. However, it has been announced that John Lithgow will take on the role of the Hogwarts headmaster.
Slated for filming soon, the Harry Potter series will be exclusively available on HBO Max.
