Michael B. Jordan stars in “Sinners,” the latest film by his frequent collaborator Ryan Coogler. It’s a perfect opportunity to explore the highest-rated film of Jordan’s career.
Michael B. Jordan is currently featured in “Sinners,” the fifth film by his close collaborator Ryan Coogler, in which he plays dual roles as the twins Smoke and Stack.
The film follows twin brothers who return to their hometown to start afresh. However, they soon realize that a malevolent force eagerly awaits their return…
Playing Twins: A Real Challenge
The film required significant effort from the actor, who took on both lead roles. He shared with us that the biggest challenge was deciding which character to portray first.
“I wasn’t sure which one I would start with, and that was probably the biggest challenge. Both characters were tough to portray. I chose to play Stack first because I tapped into his energy more quickly. He was all over the place. I would give it my all for Stack, and when I was naturally tired, I could easily switch to being a grumpy old man like Smoke.”
“There was also a real technical challenge during filming. I was playing two twins, and the entire crew had to interact with each of them as if they were two distinct people. To make it work, I had to plan my directing and acting choices in advance. That way, when I switched from one brother to the other, I knew exactly what had been done, what the other character would say or do, and how to react. It was a crucial aspect of the filming process.”
Now that the actor is also a director, he found it easier to navigate the complexities of filming. He reveals, “This was the first film I shot after stepping behind the camera for the first time. So, I really saw the set with new eyes, especially how Ryan directed with such empathy. I was always mindful of what he needed and what he was trying to achieve.
I would think, ‘Okay, he needs to handle this or that… How can I make his job easier? How can I fill in the gaps when possible?’ So yes, I had a slightly different perspective this time, more aware of the whole process.”
The release of Sinners is a chance to discover which film is the highest-rated in Michael B. Jordan’s career.
What is Michael B. Jordan’s Highest-Rated Film?
And it turns out to be “Creed – The Legacy of Rocky Balboa,” the second feature film from the duo after “Fruitvale Station,” which scores an average rating of 4.1 stars out of 5 from 21,444 ratings and 866 reviews. It is also the highest-rated film by Ryan Coogler, as Jordan has starred in all his films.
Viewers appreciate that the film continues the Rocky saga while introducing fresh elements.
BenoitG80 writes, “‘Creed: The Legacy of Rocky Balboa’ is a title that sets the tone and delivers as promised! Yes, this episode reflects the universe of the Rocky saga… and not just a little! The word ‘legacy’ truly makes sense here, as the director cleverly used this concept to craft a standalone, moving story deeply rooted in the legend of Rocky.”
The son of Apollo Creed in flesh and bone, ready to carry on the torch! Despite the film’s harsh and fierce nature, there’s an unexpected softness and tenderness that Sylvester Stallone naturally brings as a wise, calm, and caring man!
Even though we’re immediately thrown into a fast-paced rhythm with brisk training and violent fights, filmed with exceptional precision for realism, there are moments of rest, listening, and reflection between this young, energetic boxer and his tranquil, aging coach.
The legacy also appears as that of life, lived experiences, and endured trials, especially since the word ‘fight’ resonates differently for each of the two men…
Sylvester Stallone has this endearing quality as an old warhorse who’s seen it all, still ready for a fight but with great restraint, while Michael B. Jordan is all energy, independent and headstrong, a bit confused in his mind… The duo really works, and the humanism that emerges is comforting!”
For Dunno the movie, the film is: “Huge, powerful, and violent, ‘Creed: The Legacy of Rocky Balboa’ is a genuine boxing film and a surprise on all levels. Ryan Coogler nearly achieves perfection, from the tense atmosphere to the controlled direction, delivering an exhilarating, thrilling, and incredibly successful film.
A worthy successor to the Rocky saga and a starting point for a new chapter, ‘Creed: The Legacy of Rocky Balboa’ grips you from start to finish, leading to a totally epic and immersive conclusion. It’s hard to stay indifferent to such an ending; I just wanted to shout to cheer on the hero! Fantastic film.”
Even viewers who aren’t typically fans of the genre find it impressive. Alice 025 comments: “First off, I’ve never seen the ‘Rocky’ films and I’m not really into boxing movies, but I must say this film is quality. The Stallone/Jordan duo works wonderfully, the pace is unrelenting, the boxing matches are great.
There’s also depth, as several themes are explored: fatherlessness, illness, struggle, mutual aid, self-improvement… The final fight is gripping and the film ends on a high note. Newcomers like me will like it, fans will love it.”
Oceanne D adds: “Beautiful film, beautiful story! I hadn’t seen the other Rocky movies, but this one is truly incredible! You can go see this film with your family; it’s a film for everyone.”
Since then, two sequels have been released: “Creed II” directed by Steven Caple Jr. in 2019, rated 3.9 stars out of 5, and “Creed III,” the first feature film directed by Michael B. Jordan without Sylvester Stallone, which received a rating of 3.5 stars.
Jordan has announced he is considering a fourth installment focused on the adventures of Adonis Creed. In the meantime, Sinners is currently in theaters.
