Spotlight on an endearing comedy that flew under the radar during its theatrical release: “Le Chef,” featuring Jean Reno and Michaël Youn, now available on Prime Video.
Why not spend your evening enjoying a delightful culinary comedy that went unnoticed when it hit theaters in 2012? If that sounds tempting, consider watching “Le Chef,” a delightful film led by Jean Reno and Michaël Youn, available on Prime Video.
“Le Chef” tells the story of Jacky Bonnot, a lover of fine dining with undeniable talent, who dreams of success and owning a top restaurant. However, the financial constraints of his personal life force him to take on various short-term chef jobs, which he struggles to keep. Everything changes when he meets Alexandre Lagarde, a celebrated chef whose comfortable position is threatened by the financial group that owns his restaurants.
What’s on the menu in the successful “Le Chef”? A well-crafted script, humor that hits the mark consistently, a complementary star duo of Jean Reno and Michaël Youn, mouth-watering culinary shots, and a soundtrack by Oscar-winner Nicola Piovani, known for “Life is Beautiful.” In short, this is a feel-good comedy that both lifts spirits and tickles taste buds!
Top Chefs as Consultants
For his film, director Daniel Cohen consulted with renowned chefs such as Alain Passard, Alain Ducasse, and Pierre Gagnaire. Serving as consultants, these culinary masters provided valuable advice to make the film as authentic as possible. “I went into their kitchens, talked with them,” says Daniel Cohen. “Stepping into a Michelin-starred kitchen for the first time feels like entering the jewelers of Place Vendôme. Watching them care for every detail with incredible precision and care is mesmerizing.”
Michaël Youn, for his part, had the chance to take cooking classes with Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse before filming began. The actor spent a week at his establishment, learning various procedures and techniques, including how to handle knives and other tools.
Looking for a great comedy that not only makes you laugh but also whets your appetite? Then quickly rediscover “Le Chef,” now streaming on Prime Video.
