Will This 4-Star Thriller Series Get a Season 3? Find Out Now!

This Thursday evening, Arte will broadcast the last three episodes of season 2 of “Vigil”. Will the thriller starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie return for a third season?

On Thursday, January 16, starting at 8:55 PM, Arte will air the final three episodes of the second season of Vigil, a British crime series led by Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) and Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones).

In this gripping new investigation, our heroines have infiltrated the hostile ranks of the Royal Air Force. When a prototype combat drone from the air force malfunctions and kills several soldiers during a demonstration in Scotland, Amy Silva’s team is tasked with tracking down the perpetrator.

As the investigation unfolds, they discover that they are dealing with a conspiracy far greater than they had imagined.

Is a Season 3 in the Cards?

In the final episode of season 2 of Vigil, viewers finally learn what really happened at Dundair and who took control of the drones. Does this ending mean there will be no season 3? It’s still uncertain.

During the promotion of season 2, creator Tom Edge mentioned that he was open to the idea of a continuation. “If we decide to go ahead, it will be with the conviction that there is something urgent to say, both in terms of the characters and the subject matter. But the world proves to us every day that it is full of turmoil and uncertainties…” he explained.

Suranne Jones shares this view: “As always, it has to be the right story, and everyone has to agree that it’s the right thing to do. So maybe…“, she explained in an episode of the Radio Times Podcast.

For now, the BBC, which broadcasts the series in the UK, has not yet announced an order for an additional season. Therefore, everything is still possible for Amy Silva’s team.
