Hit Pause at 0:55 on Netflix’s ‘Tu me manques’ – Did You Spot This Man?

For nearly two weeks now, “Missing You” has been captivating Netflix subscribers. While fans of Harlan Coben have shown up in force once again, some may have overlooked a hidden detail right from the first episode.

Netflix knew exactly what to do by dropping a five-episode crime thriller right after New Year’s Eve, which has kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Since its debut on January 1, the series “Missing You” has been a smash hit, closely trailing behind “Squid Game,” which boasts astronomical viewership numbers.

The success of this new Netflix series is largely due to it being an adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel, a true master of the mystery genre. Each of his series has created a buzz, with one even making it into the top 10 most-watched shows on the platform. In a Hitchcock-like manner, the American author makes an appearance in each of his series.

“Missing You” is no exception and kicks off the “Where’s Harlan Coben” game in the very first seconds of the premiere episode. You had to keep your eyes open and refrain from fast-forwarding during the brief opening credits to catch a glimpse of him on screen.

If you pause at 55 seconds from the start of the series, you can spot him on the left side of the screen. Named “Ken,” he is among the thousands of missing persons being investigated by the British police.

According to an article from RadioTimes, the sequence also features the series’ screenwriter, Victoria Asare Archer. The other faces are those of people from Quay Street Productions, the production company adapting Harlan Coben’s novels.

The Cameo King

As mentioned earlier, Harlan Coben is no stranger to making cameos in his series, demonstrating his deep involvement in Netflix productions. This article lists all his appearances, from a simple photo on a wall to a minor background role.

Coben has been engaging in this playful activity since 2006. That year, Guillaume Canet directed “Tell No One,” based on the book of the same name. François Cluzet (Alex) investigates the disappearance of his wife, Margot, who was brutally murdered by a serial killer. However, eight years later, he receives an anonymous email. He clicks: an image… a woman’s face in the middle of a crowd, filmed in real-time. It’s Margot… During his search, Alex feels like he’s being followed by several men, one of whom is none other than Harlan Coben himself.

There’s no doubt that the American writer will continue this fun tradition in his upcoming projects, which we’ve listed here. In the meantime, you can still watch or rewatch “Missing You” on Netflix.
