Spider-Man’s Tom Holland Returns to Cinema: Find Out When and Where!

As TMC airs “Uncharted” this Thursday, November 28, let’s explore the upcoming projects of Tom Holland, which extend beyond Marvel and “Spider-Man 4”.

On February 16, three years will have passed since Tom Holland last appeared in cinemas with the release of “Uncharted,” an adaptation of the popular adventure video game that TMC is rerunning this Thursday, November 28. This is a perfect moment to look ahead at the films we can expect to see him in, especially considering the busy schedule he has for 2026.

Adventure Awaits

It’s timely to first discuss the sequel to “Uncharted.” Released in February 2022, the initial installment, based on the video game series, drew an audience of 2,512,288 in France and grossed over $407 million globally—a notable achievement during a period when cinemas were still impacted by COVID.

This success was sufficient for Nathan Drake to embark on another treasure hunt in a forthcoming sequel, which remains highly anticipated. In February 2024, Mark Wahlberg, who plays Sully, revealed that a script was in place and he had been asked to grow out his mustache, resembling more closely the video game character he portrayed in the post-credits scene. Since then, there’s been silence, and it’s unclear if Ruben Fleischer will return as director. However, the project is there; it just needs to be slotted into Tom Holland’s busy schedule.

Marvel Mania

Alongside “Uncharted,” Spider-Man has been another of Tom Holland’s elusive projects. After “No Way Home,” which could have been a natural conclusion for Holland’s portrayal of the character, his return in the Spider-Man suit was uncertain. However, the actor himself has spoken about it, and Destin Daniel Cretton (known for “Shang-Chi”) has been tapped to direct the fourth installment of these solo adventures, set for release on July 22, 2026.

This will be just three months after “Avengers: Doomsday,” the next big Marvel ensemble film, where Spider-Man is expected to confront Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., thanks to the multiverse. Rumors about Destin Daniel Cretton’s film swirl with talks of multiverses, multiple villains, possible returns of Tobey Maguire and/or Andrew Garfield, and Tom Hardy as Venom. Details remain unclear, but Zendaya’s participation is confirmed, and this won’t be her only film with Tom Holland in 2026.

Nolan’s New Venture

Every new Christopher Nolan film is cloaked in secrecy concerning its plot and massive star cast, and his thirteenth film, currently untitled and following his Oscar-nominated “Oppenheimer,” is no exception. Rumors suggest it might be a futuristic thriller about two helicopter pilots, influenced by “Blue Thunder,” but details are sparse.

Matt Damon, a veteran of Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and “Interstellar,” will reunite with Nolan, potentially as a lead alongside Tom Holland. They are expected to be joined by Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway (returning from “The Dark Knight Rises”), Robert Pattinson (from “Tenet”), and Zendaya. For Zendaya, this will be her first non-Marvel film with Holland, unless Nolan’s film turns out to be “Spider-Man 4,” which seems unlikely. Filming is set to begin early next year across several European countries, with a release planned for July 15, 2026—just a week before the next Spider-Man.

From Biopic to Racing

Currently, there is no set release date for the Fred Astaire biopic directed by Paul King, and it remains uncertain whether this project or the sequel to “Wonka,” which King is also developing, will come next. King stated in February that the Astaire project is still active, but he’s still exploring the story within the tap dancing legend’s life.

Committed to portraying the Hollywood musical star, Tom Holland might also take on a different kind of biopic before then: he and Austin Butler are set to play Dale and Bill Whittington, Texas-born racing drivers who famously won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979.

Titled “American Speed,” this film was the subject of bidding by studios last August, with Amazon MGM taking the lead after Warner and Paramount withdrew. To date, the film lacks a title, director, or release date, but the cast duo promises great potential, possibly following in the footsteps of “Ford v Ferrari.”
