Bruno Salomone’s Latest Project: Director Reveals Emotional Insights!

Before his tragic passing, Bruno Salomone starred in a final series for France Télévision. The director shares insights about the actor and pays a heartfelt tribute to him.

This past weekend brought the somber news that Bruno Salomone has died at the age of 55 after a long illness. A legendary figure in shows like “Fais pas ci, fais pas ça” and “Kaamelott,” he most recently appeared in the debut season of the series “À priori,” marking his last television role.

In the series, Salomone portrayed Victor Montagnac, a police officer known for his unconventional methods. Despite his initial reluctance, he ends up teaming up with Iris (Lucia Passaniti), a rule-abiding, top-of-her-class young detective. Needless to say, their partnership sparked fireworks.

However, as the episodes unfolded, the two partners managed to find common ground and turned their differences into a significant strength. Filmed in the summer of 2024, this first season aired in February 2025 on France 3.

“He was an actor of incredible generosity”

In an interview with Paris Match, Laly Vannucci, the director of the series’ final episodes, opened up about Salomone: “He was an actor of incredible generosity, utmost professionalism, and an extraordinary performer who had an impressive work ethic and never complained.”

Upon its airing, the series drew in 3.4 million viewers each week, and unsurprisingly, a second season was quickly considered. At that time, the entire team was optimistic about Salomone’s return. As revealed by Paris Match, multiple script versions were prepared to accommodate his potential return if he felt up to it:

“He had the ability to lead everyone”

“I was convinced he would come back. We had high hopes of seeing him again. Unfortunately, he could not handle the demands of filming,” Vannucci disclosed before adding: “It was our first collaboration. I was so eager to work with him again because he was so remarkable. He had the ability to lead everyone.”

“If a scene was a bit weak, he could always turn it around with humor. He had an exceptional gift for that,” the director concluded. Although Salomone could not return to filming, he took the time to record a message explaining his character’s absence.

To replace him, the production brought in Florent Manaudou. The second season of “À priori” is set to premiere on March 31 on France 3. To watch or rewatch Bruno Salomone in his final role, you can visit the France TV platform to stream the first season of “À priori.”
